Neuro Acupuncture

Neuro Acupuncture is a modern acupuncture method that helps with neurological disorders and pain conditions.

We help patients with a wide variety of neurological conditions including post-concussion, vertigo, migraines, and neuropathy symptoms, just to name a few.

Neuro Acupuncture

Integrating traditional Chinese needling methods and Scalp Acupuncture with western neurology, Neuro Acupuncture is an advanced skill often producing remarkable results with just a few needles.
The founders of the Neuro Acupuncture Institute (NAI), Drs. Jason and Linda Hao, operate private practices in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico and train M.D.’s, acupuncturists, Physical Therapists, and other medical professionals. NAI has become world renowned with their ability to treat stubborn neurological issues. I have studied with Drs. Hao since April of 2018 and have seen amazing results with my own patients utilizing fewer needles with less overall treatment time.

Success Story

“After a serious car accident 7 weeks ago I have suffered a plethora of traumatic injuries and have many ongoing, complex complications. I have only seen Margaret twice so far and I am already seeing huge improvements in lost nerve function and regaining use of my face, which was partially paralyzed!”

— Valerie C., West Chester PA

What is a Treatment Like?

Neuro Acupuncture points are located on the scalp. While that may sound scary, it’s really simple. After cleaning the points, a few needles are placed in specific areas that correspond to regions of the brain related to your condition.

The needles are sterile, single use, and thin as a human hair and are placed just beneath the skin into the loose areolar layer of the scalp tissue. This layer has no nerves, but is simply a layer of connective tissue. The needle glides effortlessly, with no pain.

We choose areas that correspond to brain regions which control pain perception, movement, swelling, circulation, abnormal sensation such as tingling and numbness, and mood; depending on which symptoms you are experiencing.

We then place needles in the arms and legs to further enhance the effects of the scalp treatment. After 20-25 minutes the needles are removed. Some patients report feeling less symptoms as soon as the needles are placed. Many report feeling relaxed and peaceful throughout the treatment since Neuro Acupuncture is great for calming the nervous system.

How Many Neuro Acupuncture Treatments Will I Need?

After reviewing your medical history with you at your initial consultation, you will receive a customized treatment plan. Treatment frequency and the duration of your recommended treatment plan will vary depending upon your neurological condition, medications, duration of your symptoms, age and general health. Most or our patients come to us with chronic conditions. We begin with up to three sessions per week to start. As you improve, treatment frequency will decrease until you get to maintenance care.

Treatment with Neuro Acupuncture is cumulative. As we reprogram the brain and body towards health and begin to heal inflammation, your symptoms will start to decrease. Rest assured, your treatments will be tailored to meet your specific health goals.

When Will I Notice Improvement?

Most patients begin to see changes in their symptoms after several weeks of care. Since most of our Neuro Acupuncture patients come in for serious, chronic conditions, improvement can take a little longer. But with treatment frequency and consistency, Neuro Acupuncture has been shown to provide long lasting relief.
