Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is the evolution of ancient medicine. This research supported, clinically reproducible treatment method enables acupuncturists to help with a wide range of chronic conditions.

Effective for severe and chronic pain such as arthritis, tendinitis, back and neck pain, and neurological conditions such as Restless Leg Syndrome, Parkinson’s Disease, and Post-Concussive Syndrome, electro-acupuncture can even be effective for internal medical conditions such as PMS, infertility, peri-menopausal symptoms, and dysautonomia.

Mild electrical stimulation is even scientifically proven to reduce inflammation, eliminate chronic pain, enhance endorphin release, enhance vagus nerve tone, and regulate neurotransmitters for mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.

In addition, electro-acupuncture effectively resolves chronic pain by inhibiting pro-inflammatory chemicals, stimulating tissue repair, and activating top-down pain inhibition in the central nervous system.

Our acupuncturist Rosanna Giuliani has extensive training in electro-acupuncture to enhance your acupuncture treatment. Sciatica, degenerative disc disease, knee pain, insomnia, and many other conditions respond quickly to electro-acupuncture.

Electro-Acupuncture Success Story

“I woke up with shoulder and neck pain. I had limited range of motion and numbness in my fingers. I immediately knew I had to call… Inner Light Wellness! With treatment of Electro Medicine Acupuncture….my neck and shoulder are feeling great!”

How Does Electro-Acupuncture Work?

Electro-acupuncture based in neuroscience. This research-based, evidence-supported treatment method works with your body’s neurophysiology to produce effective results that last.

Enhancing the neurological and physical mechanisms of acupuncture, the addition of electrical stimulation generates specific effects on neural tissues in the body, including the release of pain-inhibitory molecules and other chemical signals.

Electro-acupuncture also “turns up the volume” in our central nervous system’s pain regulatory centers, or other brain and spinal column areas the acupuncturist is seeking to target.

The frequencies we use in electro acupuncture are specific to the symptoms we are treating. For example, certain types of pain require different frequencies. For example, there are point prescriptions and electro-acupuncture dosages for acute versus chronic pain, or anxiety versus fertility. Even stubborn, chronic conditions such as Restless Legs Syndrome, insomnia, and depression can respond to electro-acupuncture.

When we apply the correct treatment approach, your body responds by releasing neurochemicals that lower inflammation and reduce pain, as well as substances such as neurotransmitters and hormones to regulate your mood and endocrine system.

Understanding how to join a modern understanding of acupuncture and neurophysiology with the holistic Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) model, neuro-acupuncturists obtain previously unseen results.

Electro-acupuncture treatment prescriptions are increasingly neuroscience-based, research-supported, and clinically reproducible. From targeting specific neural receptors for the release of neuropeptides, to regulating dysfunctional autonomic spinal reflexes, to targeting specific regions of the brain– this is acupuncture of the 21st century.

What Does Electro-Acupuncture Feel Like?

Once your needles have been placed, small lead wires are connected to the needles and a very light stimulation is applied. Most people do not feel it beyond a gentle tapping or light buzzing sensation, and report a pleasant, relaxed state of being as endorphins are released.

Needle-Free Electro-Medicine

Ask about our needle free electro medicine options. With our gentle, no needle, frequency specific micro current, children and people with a fear of needles can be treated too! Our needle free option is our go to for open skin wounds, recent surgery, or any area where it’s too soon for acupuncture. Micro current is also a highly effective treatment option for symptoms of post concussion syndrome,  Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), and Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS).

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

At your initial consultation, you will receive a customized treatment plan. Treatment frequency and the duration of your recommended treatment plan will vary depending upon your unique circumstances. The longer you’ve had the pain or dysfunction, the more treatments you will need. Treatment with electro-acupuncture is cumulative and a well-designed treatment plan is our roadmat to results. Rest assured, your case will be reviewed and customized to meet your specific health goals.
